Electricity causes heat as it travels through your wiring.
Sometimes where high resistance joints and circuit overloading
is present, this heating can become excessive and may lead to an
electrical fire. The impact on your business is two-fold – not
only is there the potential destruction from fire but there is
also the downtime due to power supply interruption. |
 |
ATS are able to perform one of the most valuable diagnostic
tools, Preventative Maintenance, by Thermal Imaging your wiring
to prevent an electrical fire. By detecting anomalies often
invisible to the naked eye, Thermography allows corrective
action to be taken before costly system failures occur. |
 |
What Technology does ATS use?
 |
Technology advancements in thermal imaging equipment
have assisted in developing a highly sophisticated
non-contact temperature measurement and analysis
procedure. Infrared sensitive semi-conductor materials
located within the cameras’ detector sends signals to a
maths processor which digitally generates an image.
|
 |
Infrared cameras ……
Look like a normal video camera and generate a real time
high resolution image.
Give you a full image of the situation
Perform inspections when systems are under load
Identify and locate the problem
Measure temperatures
Store information
Tell you exactly what needs to be fixed
Find the problems before they really occur
Save you valuable time and money
|
 |
ATS use the Flir P65 Infrared Camera. Flir themselves
describe it as “the most highly refined infrared
camera inspection system available today”.
|
 |
After seeing and using this camera for ourselves we can
only agree with them. It is simple to use yet hugely
effective at its job, producing top quality thermal and
normal digital images to produce comprehensive reports.
|
 |
You cannot fail to be impressed at what this machine can
do. The technology has moved on leaps and bounds over
the years and it seems only right that we move with it
and use the very latest equipment available.
|
 |
Our cameras can operate between two specific temperature
ranges, 40 to +120°C and 0 to +500°C. With Thermal
sensitivity of 0.08°C and up to 78,000 different
temperature measurements you can be sure nothing goes
undetected.
|
 |
The images produced come with a resolution of 320 x 240
and are recorded as JPEG for the best possible quality.
|
 |
When choosing to have a thermographic survey undertaken
it is important to take into consideration the equipment
and operators that are being employed to conduct the
survey.
|
 |
ATS use the best equipment available combined with
excellent training to ensure that our surveys are the
best on offer. |

How does Thermal Imaging Work?
 |
Thermal Imaging identifies infrared heat radiation from
an object. It scans the thermal emissions of various
surfaces and displays an image of temperature
distribution. |
 |
This thermal image reveals possible problem areas or
“hot spots” that may need to be dealt with to improve
the safety and efficiency of machinery, building
structures or electrical apparatus.
For example, it can pinpoint hot-spots generated by
faulty wiring or loose terminal blocks. All this - while
all your electrical and mechanical systems remain
operative! |
|
 |
How can thermal imaging benefit your business?
 |
Infrared thermography can detect potentially serious
faults before they have a chance to develop. A survey of
an electrical installation will reveal in seconds any
abnormal component temperatures preceding equipment
failure. |
 |
Thermal imaging is beneficial for all industries. From
condition monitoring to predicting failure in machinery
or electrical apparatus, Thermal Imaging can save you
money in the long term. |
 |
If any problems are found, our electricians are on site
to take immediate action if required to prevent any
possible electrical system failure or fire damage.
|
 |
ATS provide all customers with detailed bound
thermographic reports containing documentary evidence of
all survey results along with recommendations for each
item thermally imaged.
|
|
 |
Cost Savings
 |
As the detailed thermography report shows the exact area
of fault, no time or money is spent on elimination or
replacement of parts that are not at fault.
Long term cost savings will be made when the Thermal
Imaging procedure is added as part of a comprehensive
maintenance program. Unexpected breakdowns in all types
of plant and equipment will become obsolete as faults
will be detected well in advance of them becoming
visually apparent. In this way, repairs and/or
maintenance can be scheduled to suit your company’s
needs rather than when the breakdown occurs. |
