A Safety Switch is a life saving device that can either be fixed and located in your switchboard, or portable for use in various locations. Safety Switches can sometimes be called RCD’s (Residual Current Device) or ELCB’s (Earth Leakage Circuit Breakers). They are designed to detect any disruption to the electrical flow through the electrical circuit, and to switch the power off should a disruption normally associated with electric shock or electrocution be detected. ATS will inspect and test your workplace Fixed and Portable RCD's in accordance with AS/NZS 3760:2010 and state based legislation. A simple trip test will be conducted, along with an Operating Time test to ensure your RCD switches off the power to your circuits within the recommended time frame. An RCD is designed to save lives, if you have gone to the effort to have these installed in your workplace it only makes sense to ensure they work! Please note:- Under the model WHS Regulations, the installation and testing of RCD's will become mandatory for all businesses effective January 2012. All businesses will be required to have RCD protection on every circuit in their business. |
