Mark Gillies

Mark Gillies is the owner and operator of Appliance Tagging Services Northern Tasmania, leading a team of experienced electrical and fire safety professionals who provide services to businesses throughout the state.
Born and raised in Tasmania, Mark is passionate about supporting local businesses and helping organisations create safer workplaces through professional electrical and fire safety compliance services.
With more than 30 years of experience in the agricultural industry, Mark has developed extensive knowledge of complex business operations, project management, and workplace safety. In recent years, he has been involved in the development and construction of intensive farming operations across Northern Tasmania, giving him a practical understanding of the challenges businesses face when balancing operational demands with compliance requirements.
Mark believes that effective safety programs should work with a business, not against it. His collaborative approach, combined with decades of hands-on industry experience, enables him to deliver practical solutions that help clients meet their compliance obligations while minimising disruption to their day-to-day operations.
Community service has always been an important part of Mark’s life. He is a Life Member of the Deloraine Apex Club and has dedicated more than 25 years as a volunteer with road accident rescue, including over 15 years in volunteer leadership and management roles. In recognition of his outstanding service to the community, Mark was awarded the Bravery Medal in 2000 and the prestigious Emergency Services Medal in the 2014 Australia Day Honours. His commitment to helping others continues through his strong support of mental health initiatives across the community.
Outside of work, Mark enjoys motorsport, motorcycles, and fishing, and values spending time enjoying everything Tasmania has to offer.
As part of the national Appliance Tagging Services network, Mark combines local knowledge with the resources and support of one of Australia’s leading electrical safety providers. His clients benefit from professional service, comprehensive compliance reporting, and access to ATS’s online reporting portal, making it easy to manage ongoing electrical and fire safety obligations.
Whether you’re a small business, school, healthcare provider, government agency, or a large commercial organisation, Mark and his team are committed to delivering reliable, professional, and customer-focused electrical and fire safety services across Northern Tasmania.
