How often should portable RCD’s be push button tested?

AS/NZS 3760:2010 specifies the recommended frequency of testing both Fixed and Portable RCD’s for all states except Queensland.
- Portable RCD’s in factories, manufacturing, assembly, maintenance, and fabrication environments are to be push button tested daily or before every use and trip time tested by a competent person annually.
- Portable RCD’s in other hostile environments are to be push button tested 3 monthly and trip time tested by a competent person annually.
- Portable RCD’s in non-hostile environments are to be push button tested every 3 months and trip time tested by a competent person every 2 years.
- Portable RCD’s in residential areas of hotels, boarding houses, halls, hostels and accommodation houses are to be push button tested every 6 months and trip time tested by a competent person every 2 years.
In Queensland the following retest frequencies apply in accordance with QLD Electrical Safety Regulations 2013
- Portable RCD’s in Construction Work are to be push button tested daily or before every use and trip time tested by a competent person every 3 months.
- RCD’s in Manufacturing Work are push button tested daily or before every use and trip time tested by a competent person annually. RCD’s are not be used as a primary RCD.
- RCD’s in Service Work are push button tested 3 monthly or before every use and trip time tested by a competent person annually.
- RCD’s in Office Work are push button tested 3 monthly or before every use and trip time tested by a competent person every 2 years.
